La Buvette, P-Berg

A few weeks back, I read about a French place I did not know yet, La Buvette, and since it looked nice I took a bunch of friends and we went there for dinner. It’s located in Prenzlauer Berg, close to S+U Schönhauser Allee. Wine lovers really enjoyed their “poison” and the whole experience was nice.
Cosy place, friendly staff and good food. I had the rumpsteak, it comes with a nice mustardy creamy sauce and tasty home made French fries: it was absolutely delicious and so was the moeulleux au chocolat (lava cake), salads and quiches and cassoulet and duck were also quite good according to the other guests (even if the Quiche Lorraine is not authentic, they put cheese in it, but there is no cheese in the real original traditionnal one).
Prices are ok, all in all a fantastic evening, we shall come back

French delights at Diderot

I read about Diderot, a cosy place for French food and also organising cultural events in Prenzlauer Berg, and the next day I had to do a painful and very early medical test so I decided to treat myself with a nice breakfast and went there. The big breakfast for 1 person could be enough for 2, the brioche is amazing, tasty cheese, nice ham and bread and fruit salad and so. A French pastry chef organizes French brunches (buffet) every Sunday, from the photos she posted on Facebook, it looks amazing, I have to try this soon!

Tapas @ Pan Amb Oli

Pan Amb Oli is a nice Mallorcan tapas place in Prenzlauer Berg. I went there on the recommandations of a friend. It’s a nice cosy place, very friendly staff and relatevely quick service. The menu is very appealling and hard to choose from. I had some serrano ham, potatoe gratin with manchego, salami cooked in whine and patatas bravas. All was very tasty, but very small portion (yes I know it’s tapas it’s supposed to be small) for the price. But still a very nice experience.

Street Angels

angelShortly before Christmas, I discovered a new burger place in Berlin, Street Angels, close to Helmholplatz in P-Berg, well they don’t specialize only in burgers but that was the main reason of our visit.

A friend of mine had a Groupon for this place and we went to try their burger. Service is good, very friendly staff. Food is good, burger meat was a bit too cooked to my taste, I like it more medium rare and it was a bit over medium, so next time I’ll have to ask extra I guess. The cheese was very tasty in the burger, good fries.

I’ll probably go back to try their breakfast.

Georgian food at Restaurani Tbilisi

tblisi2Restaurani Tbilisi is a Georgian restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg that I discovered a couple of weeks ago.

This was my very first time in a Georgian restaurant, so it was a very nice discovery.
The staff is super friendly but unfortunately the service was really chaotic, barely profesional. First, they had forgotten about our reservation, they still managed to find us a table and extra chairs, so we could all seat and enjoy.
There were lots of mix-ups with the orders, some plates got put on the table without any word, some dishes we did not order were brought to the table and the time some got their food, some of us had already finished. But at least it was entertaining.

About the food, this was to the contrary very professionnal, the cooks do know what they’re doing. I first had the small chachapuris, crispy dumplings with Georgian cheese, simple but very tasty. Everyone liked their starters, the other kind of chachapuri with tblisi3cheese and egg, the soup, the chicken salat, the aubergines,… For main, I had the mzwadi, marinated meat cooked on a spike, I got the chicken and it was excellent, the chicken was tasty, tender, barely needed a knife to cut it and it was not dry, I was really deligthed. Others got the same with salmon or lamb and all liked it.

I would def go back, mainly for the food, the staff was still very friendly, just a chaotic service, no rudeness or such, so it’s still a positive experience for me.

Café Seeblick

xpr_1689Café Seeblick is a cozy café and restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg close to Kollwitzplatz. I went there in a business yet relaxed context, we were a big group and everything went smoothly. The staff is extremely friendly, the service was quite quick considering our number, I had some käsespätzle and they were really tasty, no one complained about their food. Drinks were good as well, great athmosphere. Really nice place, just vegetarians will have a restricted choice.

Muse, burgers and more

muse (8)I recently went to Muse, a restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg, close to Immanuel Kirche, between Alex and Danziger Straße.

This place came up as I was looking for good burgers in Berlin, so I went with a couple of friends. The restaurant is really cool and the staff is super friendly.

I first had a passion fruit daiquiri that was really nice and had real tasty Spanish tortilla for a starter. Then I had the cheeseburger, it was very tasty, the beef was excellent, very juicy, but the bacon a bit weird. I’m not a big fan of the fact that they are not making the burger themselves, I’d prefer to have my food served ready to eat. They bring a big plate with the bun, the sauce, the toppings and the patty on a pan still frying. It’s original, for sure, but I could do without having to build my own burger. Anyway, it still was a very tasty burger! I had the sweet potatoe fries, they were ok.

Prices are ok too. Nice place all in all, I would go back.
