Fairytale Bar: Follow the White Rabbit…

… and enter a world of wonders!

Fairytale Bar is a marvelous cocktail bar in Friedrichshain. The place is hidden in a residency area close to Vollkspark Friedrichshain and is a true jewel. The theme is obviously fairy tales, with the waitress dressed as a french maid, cute decoration, the menu itself brings a few surprises and offers some very creative cocktails, but they can of course make most of the classics. Really worth a visit.

Cocktails at Salut! bar

I had heard so many good stuffs about Salut! in Schöneberg that I had to go see it for myself. The place is really nice, very original and cozy decoration, very friendly staff. The menu is really original, I had the March cocktail without the chick peas and it was delicious! Very refreshing. They also can make about anything you might want, I had a Cosmopolitan after that, they nailed it of course. The only bad thing is that it’s a smoking bar and you tend to smell it a lot.

Mister Hu, great cocktails in Schöneberg

misterhuMister Hu is a cocktail bar in Schöneberg, located between U Nollendorfer Platz and U Eisenacher Straße.

On a nice summer evening we sat on their terrasse with a friend. The friendly waiter served us some water right away and then it got complicated: so much choice, I ended up having a Dirty Hary, with rhum, apple juice, mapple sirup. It was very fresh and sweet and tasty, but quite strong. The cocktail my friend had with vanilla vodka and mint was also nice, the menu is very appealing and I’ll for sure go back.

Meisterschueler: cocktails with a view

20160626_222833I recently discovered a new cocktail bar in Mitte, along the Spree, close to S+U Friedrichstraße: Meisterschueler.

I went there with some friends for an after opera cocktail, it was warm and we could enjoy the lovely terrasse along the river. The staff is super friendly and the menu HUGE, really hard to choose from, but the waiter was patient and came a few times before we could decide. I wanted a pisco sour but without eggwhite on top and they just did it, and it was great. Not too strong, no too weak, the right dose, very refreshing. Everyone was happy with their drinks and they also have a selection without alcohol.

The inside is very nicely decorated, although it’s a bit expensive, it can really be worth it once in a while.

Fancy cocktails at Limonadier

IMG_20160106_204919I recently visited Limonadier, a great cocktail bar in Kreuzberg, close to U Mehringdamm. I can only recommand it to people who enjoy real good cocktails. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere very nice and the menu very interesting. Their offer is nothing but classic, some of the classics are even revisited, they also do their own limonade but I haven’t tried it.

I tried the Kaleidoscop, it’s very sweet, with rhum, raspberry, vanilla, violet and lemon, it was excellent, like drinking a candy. My friend had the Nautilus Daiquiri, with chocolate liquor, I usually don’t like chocolate alcohol but I tasted her cocktail and it gives a nice twist without dominating the drink which ended up being nice as well.
The prices can seem high for Berlin but it is totally worth it.

Kauf Dich Glücklich

IMG_2540Some time ago, a friend took me to a very nice place in Prenzlauer Berg. Close to U Eberswalder Straße, on Oderbergerstr., you can find the small café Kauf Dich Glücklich, kinda means Buy your hapiness.

They serve ice creams, waffles, crepes (but not on week-ends), hot and cold drinks and cocktails. The place is very cosy, the staff extremely friendly. I had a waffle with hot raspberries and ice cream which was excellent. Also had a kind of caipirinha, but with white rhum since they were out of cachaça. It was still quite nice.

Very cool atmosphere, nice music, I really liked this place and will for sure go back.

QBA, the heat of Cuba in Berlin

IMG_2283I had often heard of QBA, a Cuban bar/restaurant in Mitte, on Oranienburger Straße, very close to the S-bahn station. I recently went for a nice evening with friends.

They have an interesting cocktail menu, I first tried their Tropical Punch, fruity rhum-based cocktail to go with my beef and cheese nachos. Food menu looks nice, I really liked the nachos de picadillo, quite huge portion actually.

A band was playing live that evening, as it often happens. Excellent latino music, along with an old Cuban rhum, perfect setting to warm up body and soul. Atmosphere is great, staff is very friendly, great service, prices are ok, a very good spot I might return to once in a while.
