Schiller Burger

schiller (2)After hearing so often about Schiller Burger I finally went and am happy I did. They have several locations and we went to the one in Herrfurthstraße in Neukölln (station Bodinstraße with the U8). The place is small but apparently you can take away and eat it at the Schiller Café just next to it.

The menu is kinda hard to choose from, it’s also possible to get it a bit customized. The bun is home made in their bakery and very tasty, the beef is really good, all the ingredients are fresh and delicious. I loved this burger! I also tried their sweet potatoe fries, excellent as well. It’s a bit expensive but still worth it considering the quality.

The staff is also very friendly and have vegan and veggy options.

Schoenbrunn, park restaurant in a beautiful setting

schonbrunn (1)By nice weather I like to go to Vollspark Friedrischain and sit at the Schoenbrunn restaurant for a nice meal or drink under the sun. The waiter is extremly friendly, the setting is delightful, in the heart of the big park, the food is good, the prices not too high.

I recently tried their plate with Austrian cheese and cold cuts, it was really tasty and, even though it’s listed in the starters, can be a real meal for one person, after that I wasn’t hungry till diner. They also have a nice breakfast menu available from 10:00 to 14:00. Very hard to choose from.

Chipps, yummy breakfast in Mitte

chipps (1)I recently went to Chipps for a late breakfast and it was great. It is located on Jägerstraße, very close to U Hausvogteiplatz station. I had a hard time choosing what to have, some much choice, good thing for non meat eaters: you can choose your bacon and sausages to be meat or vegan, whether omnivore, vegetarian or vegan, you should find something to your taste.

I ended up having the Lumber Jack: French toasts, scramble eggs and bacon, comes with maple syrup but I had without. French toasts were quite nice, eggs very good and (meat) bacon crispy and tasty. Everyone of us was satisfied, and we plan to go back to try other stuffs.

Place is cosy, staff is friendly, service quite fast and prices are OK for Mitte.

Buffalo Grill Jouy-aux-Arches, Metz, France

IMG_2453It had been a long time I had not been to a Buffalo Grill restaurant, during my last visit in France, I went there for lunch to take a break from Christmas Shopping. We had to wait a bit to get a table, waiting time to order and get our food was a bit long, service was kinda sloppy with forgotten items we had to ask for a couple of times. But the waiter was very nice and friendly.

The beef is excellent, sauce is tasty and crispy fries which are supposed to be as much as you want but one portion was enough to me. They seem to have nice desserts but I was too full to try them, the mix plate of starters is quite nice to go with cocktails at first.

Organisation could be improved but food is tasty, so overall not quite a bad place.

Asteria, free hugs and free ouzo

Asteria (1)While looking for a Greek restaurant, it soon appeared that Asteria was supposed to be the best Greek restaurant in Berlin, so after reading all those great reviews, we just had to try. It’s located on Schönhauser Allee, a few steps away from the station U Eberswalder Straße. We went on a week-end, Saturday night, the place was full, it’s highly recommended to book a table. When you enter there, you’re very warmly welcomed, we also had live Greek music that night. The waiters are all very friendly, almost hugging you, touching you on the shoulder, wether you’re a man or woman, nothing inappropriate. You get right away shots of ouzo that get refilled all night long. Too bad I don’t drink it (I don’t really like anis). Asteria (6)As for the food, I first had the breaded feta, delicious. I then had an Asteria Plate with Gyros, pork skewer and something I don’t recall the name, pork (?) minced meat with spices from the grill as well. It was huge and delicious, I could not finish it so I asked for a doggy bag, one dish 2 meals. ^^ My friends had the big vegetarian starter plate, they liked it a lot as well. So this place is defenitely worth the visit, it’s a nice experience, prices are ok and the service really excellent and the food delicious. PS: To give credit where it’s due, I’m not the one who came up with the title, it’s the brillant idea of a friend. Thanks M. for the inspiration! 😉   Asteria (2) Asteria (3) Asteria (5) Asteria (4)

Cuban diner at Pequeña Habana

habana (1)I recently discovered this nice little restaurant and I was really delighted. Pequeñna Habana, in Schöneberg, located very close to the station U Eisenacher Straße, is cosy, the athmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly and welcomes you warmly. I first had the daiquiri, perfect!
I loved the mariquitas de platano (banana chips) that I had for starter, really tasty. I then got the bistec de palomilla, a delicious steak marinated, excellent! The only negative point was the banana discs served with it that were kinda mealy.

Other guests got baby calamaris, fresh fish (the offer changes daily), chicken, vegetable casserole,… Everyone was happy.

Of course, to end this nice evening, I had a nice rhum. As for the prices, they are quite ok.
